In this episode we chat with Dr Laura Kirby, Chief Mental Health Officer at Commonwealth Bank Australia. We discuss the psychosocial hazards in the banking industry, the impact of the findings from the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry and how they relate to psych health and safety in banking, and what changes are underway as a result. We discuss some of the challenges associated with integrating psychosocial risk management approaches into an existing financial risk management framework, noting some similarities and differences between financial and major hazard risk frameworks. She shares some of the differences she has experienced working internally in a large bureaucracy compared to her previous role working as a consultant.
